At Red Tail Equestrian the health, comfort, and enrichment of your horse are our top priorities. We accept horses for what they are: intelligent, sensitive animals who relish routine, companionship, and activity, and we orient our care practices to best accommodate these qualities. But every horse is different. We work with our boarders to develop a close and comfortable relationship with each of the animals at our facility and to cater to their unique needs and tendencies.
As horse owners and riders ourselves, we know that dressage is an enriching experience that encourages deeper bonds between horse and rider. We promote challenge and discovery in the arena—failures and successes that give both horse and rider a deeper sense of purpose together.
The heart of Red Tail Equestrian is community. From the beginning, community has inspired us, subsidized us, encouraged us and carried us when we’ve faltered. Our facilities, our boarding policies, and our practices revolve around building empowering relationships with and between our boarders through communication and a shared love of dressage.
WHO WE ARE
Owner Becky Patton and her daughter, Jenni, have spent most of their lives around horses. They’ve studied dressage, gentled foals, and mucked more stalls than they can count. As boarders themselves, they’ve always been on the lookout for facilities that value hard work, communication, and an exhaustive commitment to the well-being of horses.
In 2018, while shopping for a new place to board, Becky reached out to old friends who needed help running a facility of their own. Red Tail Equestrian was born. Becky recruited friends and family and got to work cleaning, repairing, and restoring her facility to the height of its glory.
Red Tail Equestrian is the culmination of Becky’s lifelong love of horses. When she and Jenni aren’t mucking stalls and restoring woodwork, they can often be found chasing the barn cats or working on their dressage. Becky’s horse, Vinnie, is the first official resident of Red Tail Equestrian; he’s a 19-year-old palomino quarter horse who loves eating, flirting with mares, and pretending to be deaf. Jenni’s horse, Fargo, is a 14-year-old palomino Westphalian with a sweet temperament and a good work ethic.
clinics and events
While our main focus is dressage, Red Tail Equestrian is proud to offer our facility to professional equestrian clinicians of all stripes.
